Studying and House Guests

First of all, let me begin by patting myself on the back for making it through my first full week of Grad school! It has been a little bit of a challenge - mainly because I forgot how to be a student. Since my senior year of undergrad was all internship, I haven't really been a student for the last two years. However, I am genuinely excited about all of my classes. They are all so interesting, which wasn't always true in undergrad.
(side note - this week I also accepted a job as a part-time assistant teacher for a child development center. It'll be a fun way to earn a little extra cash! So excited!)

Today, I am attempting to re-learn how to study.

In other news, we are having our first overnight guest tonight! So exciting! Our good friend Andrew is in town and will be staying the night with us. Adam and Andrew lived together in college. Andrew's fiancee, Carrie, and I joke that we can always tell when one of them misses the other by how goofy they start acting. We are so excited to have Andrew stay the night with us and I'm sure he and Adam will be up all night reliving their college days!

We don't have a guest room, but luckily Andrew was a frequent couch sleeper in college so he should be just fine on the couch.

We're ready for you, Andrew!

Back to School

I re-entered the college world today as a graduate student. Weird. It was so strange to be back on Baylor's campus, but so wonderful at the same time! The campus has gone through some changes since I left a year ago, so it was fun to see the new developments. Since I am entering a program that I did not get my undergrad degree in, I am taking "leveling" courses (aka freshman/sophomore/junior level classes). It is definitely interesting, but thankfully there are 4 other great girls in the same boat with me so we get to travel this little journey together. One sweet little freshman girl about had a heart attack when she found that two of us "levelers" were married and had already been out in the working world.
I am so excited for this new chapter and I can't wait to see what God has in store for me this semester!

{REWIND}

This past Friday I went back to Houston for the weekend to see some family and celebrate my nephew's first birthday! When I married Adam, I inherited 5 beautiful nephews. They are all so precious and I am so glad I am officially Aunt Jenna!

I also got to visit Pretty Little Things, which is owned by my friend Nikole.
When we were in high school Nikole would talk about opening a boutique someday and that day has come! I am so excited for her and if anyone can be successful at this, its her! [She was voted Best Dressed in high school :)]
If you live in the Kingwood area [or even if you don't] check it out!

Bag full of goodies :)

Home Sweet Home

I decided to do a tour of our tiny little home today. We are so blessed to have this place to call home! It's not perfect, but it's ours and we love it!

Kitchen
(don't you just love those cabinets?!)
This adorable towels have to be one of my favorite decorative details in the kitchen.
I got them as a gift at one of my showers.
This is another one of my favorite details in the kitchen.I know it seems silly, but I just love this little silver bowl!
It is perfect for me to put my rings in while I'm cooking or doing dishes. This belonged to Adam's mom and I amso glad that we have some of her stuff to decorate our home with!
Bedroom
The mirrors are by far my least favorite aspect of this apartment,
but we can't really complain since we have a roof over our heads :)

This wall is my unfinished project. It is in our living room
and I plan on filling the frames with our wedding pictures, but for now my little cousin is sideways and we have pictures of random people in our living room. The sign was a gift from one of our favorite people, Emily Franks.
She was like a mother to Adam and we are both so thankful for her!
Last, but not least....
Entry Way
The most expensive wall in our home.

(No pictures of the bathroom - nothing special there. Plus, who really needs to see another toilet?!)

While we feel so blessed to be living in Waco during this season of our lives, we do miss our family and friends so much. Having a comfortable home that I get to share with my best friend makes being away a little easier.

Amateur

I've considered starting a blog for a while now, but quite honestly I just didn't think that I had anything to write about that was worth reading. I still feel that way, but here I am starting a blog. The main purpose for this blog is for me to chronicle my life as a newlywed and graduate student (and how I hopefully manage them both well). These years are so special to me!

As of today, I have been married to my handsome husband for 25 days! We got married on July 14th surrounded by our amazing family and friends - it couldn't have been a more perfect day! I can't wait to see the amazing moments our photographer captured, but for now I will share these fabulous photos that some of our guests took.

This is one of the photos I have from our photographer - I love it! She is amazing!
